Resilient little one who loves rain puddles and animals, healing with play therapy.

    Their story

    Kai's journey

    1

    Rain-puddle kid

Put him in boots and he will find every puddle within a mile.

Kai is four. He came into foster care after instability at home made it unsafe for a child who was already small, already sensitive, already paying close attention to everything.

    2

    The first months

Daycare was too loud. Transitions were too fast. A play therapist trained in attachment began seeing him twice a week. It has taken time, but the first full week without tears came in March. His foster mom cried when she heard.

    3

    Who he is today

He loves animals — dogs especially, and the neighbor's cat who has finally let him pet her. He is learning colors, shapes, and that adults come back when they say they'll come back.

    4

    What he dreams about

Have a pet of his own someday. Keep feeling comfortable at daycare. Learn the names for feelings that used to just be storms inside him.

    5

    How you help

Play therapy sessions are the engine of his progress. Winter gear and steady meals build the rest. Every contribution is a week of weekly appointments he won't have to miss.
